A block stream (amgoeryu) is an accumulation of large gravel- or boulder-sized rock fragments, rounded or angular, that have collectively flowed very slowly down and piled up on a mountain slope or in a valley. The Block Stream in Biseulsan Mountain, Dalseong not only presents a distinctive landscape formed of Cretaceous granite boulders, but is also the largest of the several block streams found in Korea, measuring 2km in length, 80m in width and 5m in thickness, with individual blocks ranging from about 1 to 2m in diameter. It is of very high academic and educational value, and the process by which the block stream formed is an important subject of scholarly research.
