These are the clothes excavated from the tombs of Yi Cheon-gi and his family, Hakseong: artefacts unearthed in 1969 from the tomb of Yi Cheon-gi (1610-1666), the tomb of his wife, Lady Park of Heungnyeo, and the joint tomb of his third son, Yi Ji-yeong, and his wife, Lady Hwang of Pyeonghae. The clothing excavated from Yi Cheon-gi's tomb (two types, three items) comprises one gwangdahoedae (a broad, patterned sash) and two padded winter caps (somo) - one of cotton, one of silk. The clothing excavated from the tomb of his wife, Lady Park of Heungnyeo (three types, three items), comprises a padded cotton jangot (a coat-like outer garment worn over the head), a piece of cloth, and an unlined cotton skirt. The clothing excavated from the joint tomb of his third son, Yi Ji-yeong, and his wife, Lady Hwang of Pyeonghae (three types, four items), comprises a lined jangot of satin damask woven with a phoenix-and-flower design, a padded and quilted silk skirt, and a pair of padded cotton socks (beoseon). Note: on 18 June 2004 the designation was renamed from "Clothing Excavated from and Held at Ihyujeong, Ulsan" to "Clothes Excavated from the Tombs of Yi Cheon-gi and His Family, Hakseong." Following a detailed examination by relevant experts in February 2004, the designated name and the detailed names of the individual artefacts were corrected, and one unlined cotton skirt was additionally designated.
