House with Calling Windows in Naganeupseong Walled Town, Suncheon
KOGL Type 4Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This thatched house stands beside the road in Namnae-ri, reached by passing through the south gate of Naganseong. Through the gate is the inner yard directly, with the main house set deep within it, facing southeast. In front of the main house is a shed, and a toilet stands at the wall corner to the southwest. The main house is laid out in the order of kitchen, large room and small room. Only the west and rear walls are built as party walls, while the front is left fully open. A wooden veranda was fitted in front of the rooms, and a shed was later added beside the small room. The kitchen god, Jowangsin, is enshrined in the kitchen, and a neatly arranged terrace of earthenware jars stands between the kitchen and the shed. This house shows the plain, unadorned character typical of an earthen-walled house. This heritage site is usually open to the public, but viewing may be restricted for private reasons at the discretion of the owner.
