This house was built in 1725, the first year of King Yeongjo, by the eighth-generation ancestor of the present owner, Jeong Yong-jun, and consists of a main house and a pavilion. Set on a spacious plot with a pond, the house has its main quarters, men's quarters, lower quarters and storehouse quarters arranged in a square ('ㅁ'-shaped) plan facing south-west. The pavilion by the pond is a detached building standing apart in the yard beside the men's quarters, facing south. The main quarters are called Ilsimdang and consist of a main room, a wooden-floored hall, a side room, a kitchen and a storeroom. The large, three-bay kitchen extends in a long bend below the main room, giving the house a 'ㄱ'-shaped plan of a kind commonly found in large houses of the Yeongnam region. The lower quarters, which contain a cattle shed, a mill room and a storeroom, face the kitchen and storeroom of the main quarters, and the mill room is fitted with a treadle-operated grain-pounding mill. The men's quarters, to the right of the gate, are arranged with a sarang room, a wooden-floored hall, a storeroom and a wooden-floored room. The storehouse quarters stand to the left of the gate. The pond, formed by widening a small stream that flows outside the yard, looks so natural that it shows no sign of having been artificially made. The pavilion consists of a spacious wooden-floored hall and a heated room. The rational composition of the main house, the pavilion and the small pond gives a good sense of the owner's love of nature, his refined outlook on life and his wisdom for living. This heritage site is generally open to visitors, but viewing may be restricted due to the personal circumstances of the owner or other private reasons.
