Built between the 1890s and 1900s, this house, made up of a main quarters, a men's quarters and a lower quarters, strongly displays the character of houses of the inland southern provinces. The main quarters stands in a place of great natural beauty, with the men's quarters set opposite it. A few steps up to the east of the inner courtyard lead to a lower courtyard and a west-facing lower quarters, said to have originally been a shrine. To the west of the inner courtyard is a shed built in recent times. The main quarters is a single-row building in the style of the southern provinces. From the east are a small room, a two-bay hall, the principal room and the kitchen. A veranda floor runs from the principal room to the small room, and in front of the small room the floor is raised slightly to make room for a firebox. There is a door between the hall and the veranda floor, a common feature of southern-provinces houses. The men's quarters has posts set into the middle of both side walls so that the bays can be partitioned. From the east are a storehouse, beside it a woodshed, then a kitchen, a lower reception room, an upper reception room, and at the very end a room for raising silkworms — though this last is a later alteration, so its original form is not known. The lower quarters is a kind of secondary men's quarters, corresponding to a small reception building. It has a lower room and a hall to the south and a storehouse to the north, with veranda floors at the front and on the right. The main quarters here was built around 1900 and shows a distinctive composition typical of the inland southern provinces; many folk artefacts have been preserved intact within it, offering a glimpse of everyday life of the time. In particular, to the west of the main quarters stands a storehouse, used for storing rice after the harvest, in a form different from that of the central region. Persimmon trees grow thickly around the house, connecting to a bamboo grove that adds greatly to its atmosphere, though there is no special garden.
