Set deep in the wooded hill behind the village in a beautiful setting, this pavilion is jointly owned by the whole of Ganggol Village. Following a small stream upward, one passes through a small gate formed of two posts, and beyond the yard behind it the pavilion stands on higher ground. It has four bays across the front and two along the side, an L-shaped house built with numaru, raised wooden-floored rooms open on the sides like a covered balcony. In its layout, the two central bays running across the front contain rooms placed one above the other, while the bays running lengthwise are given over to the numaru. There are numaru both in front of and behind the rooms; behind the lower room is a small side room, and beneath the room is a space for lighting a fire to heat the floor. In front of the village stand a modest gate and a pond, and in the garden trees blend with the surrounding woods; the building well preserves the techniques of traditional Korean landscape gardening. This heritage site is generally open to the public, but access may be restricted for personal reasons at the discretion of the owner.
