Historic House of Gunsu-ri, Buyeo
부여 군수리 고택 · 扶餘 軍守里 古宅

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a thatched-roof house built facing east in a plains village beside the Gunsu-ri temple site. It consists of the anchae, a heotganchae (storage building), and another heotganchae built more recently. Judging from its architectural style, the anchae appears to have been built in the late 18th century, while a record has been found showing that the heotganchae was built in 1938. The anchae, measuring four kan across the front and two kan on the side, is arranged in a straight line facing the inner courtyard, and consists of a main room, a smaller room and a kitchen. Behind and to the left of the anchae stands the heotganchae, a typical structure consisting of a room, a storeroom, an ash shed and a storage shed. In the kitchen, the folk practice of venerating Jowangsin, the household god of the hearth, is still maintained. In the yard and the area behind the house, many stone artefacts that appear to have been excavated from the Gunsu-ri temple site are scattered about. Although much of its original appearance has been lost over time, the anchae is a thatched-roof house of relatively high status. This heritage site is generally open to the public, but viewing may be restricted due to the personal circumstances of the owner or others.
