Birthplace of Former President Yun Po-sun, Asan
아산 윤보선 대통령 생가 · 牙山 尹潽善 大統領 生家

Set facing south-east in the middle of a wide, flat village, this house is said to have been built in 1907 by Yun Chi-so, father of former President Yun Po-sun, though the outer sarangchae appears, from its architectural style, to have been built in the 1920s. The L-shaped anchae and the reverse-L-shaped inner sarangchae together form an open square layout enclosing the inner courtyard, and an L-shaped servants' quarters (haengnangchae) is joined to the left corner of the inner sarangchae. At the right corner stands the L-shaped outer sarangchae. The anchae shows a floor plan typical of the central region, apart from the kitchen being placed on the east side. The outer sarangchae is a house with a raised, elevated wooden-floor pavilion (numaru), enclosed by its own separate wall with its own gate. A middle gate area usually has a gate on the outer side and is left open on the inner courtyard side, but unusually, this house has gates on both sides, both opening outward. The haengnangchae was built adjoining the inner sarangchae with its roof overlapping one level lower, and a raised gate (sotdaemun) was placed at the front. The auxiliary building to the west of the haengnangchae is a yangtongjip, a double-row house type found only in the eastern regions of Korea, a structure not commonly seen in this area and therefore of considerable significance. Although it has undergone partial alterations in later years, it is an upper-class house with the typical layout of the central region. This heritage site is generally open to the public, but viewing may be restricted due to the personal circumstances of the owner or others.
