This is the house where Jeong On (1569–1641), a civil official of the mid-Joseon period, was born. His descendants rebuilt it in 1820, the 20th year of King Sunjo, and enshrined Jeong On's spirit tablet in the family shrine, where it remains to this day. Passing through the gate quarters with its tall raised gate (sotdaemun), one finds an L-shaped men's quarters (sarangchae), and inside it a single straight-row women's quarters (anchae). To the right of the women's quarters is a lower auxiliary building, and to the left a storehouse building. Behind the women's quarters, a separate wall was built with three gates, behind which the shrine was erected. It is unusual that the angled section of the men's quarters is finished as a raised timber-floored pavilion (numaru) and fitted with a small extra eave known as an 'eyebrow roof'. Both the women's and men's quarters are built as a double-row house (gyeopjip), a type characteristic of the northern regions, but they also share features distinctive of the southern regions, such as a low platform base and a raised veranda (toenmaru). This combination gives the house its scholarly value, and it is valuable material for the study of yangban houses of the late Joseon period. This heritage site is generally open to visitors, but access may be restricted at times owing to the personal circumstances of the owners.
