This pavilion is attached to the head house of the Gwangsan Kim clan, and was built by Kim Su in 1514, the thirty-sixth year of King Jungjong of Joseon. It originally stood in Ocheon-ri, near the Nakdonggang River, but was relocated to its present site in 1974 owing to the construction of Andong Dam. The building measures three kan — a traditional unit describing the space between structural pillars — across the front and two kan along the side, with the side bays made wider than the front bays so that it is almost square in plan. It has a hipped-and-gabled (paljak) roof, whose sides form the shape of the character '八' (eight), and its wooden floor is enclosed by a railing. The nameboard reading 'Takcheongjeong' is in the calligraphy of Han Seok-bong, and the hall displays poem boards by celebrated scholars of the time, including Toegye Yi Hwang. It is the most magnificent and elegant private pavilion in the Yeongnam region. Note: this heritage site is generally open to visitors, but access may be restricted at the owner's discretion.
