This building served as the residential quarters of the governor of Gyeongsang Province. It was built in 1601, the 34th year of King Seonjo of Joseon, together with several other buildings such as Seonhwadang Hall and Eunghyangdang Hall, and has since been repaired and rebuilt a number of times to reach its present form. It measures eight kan across the front and four kan along the side, with a floor area of as much as 227 square metres, and is roofed with a paljak, hip-and-gable roof that forms the shape of the character for "eight" when viewed from the side. Together with Seonhwadang Hall, Jingcheonggak Pavilion is the only surviving government office building in the city of Daegu, making it an important piece of national heritage.
