Jeonui Biamsa Temple Three-story Stone Pagoda
전의 비암사 삼층석탑 · 全義 碑岩寺 三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a three-storey stone pagoda standing in front of Geungnakbojeon Hall at Biamsa Temple. It consists of a three-storey body set upon a single-tier base; during restoration work in 1982 the missing parts of the base were supplemented and stones that had been placed upside down were corrected. Pillar shapes are carved on the four faces of the base and on each body stone of the pagoda. The roof stones have sharply upturned corners, and their undersides carry four-tiered eave supports. At the top, only the square base stone that once supported the finial ornament remains. Overall, the body stones of the second storey and above are considerably smaller than that of the first storey. The roof stones appear rather heavy in proportion to the body stones, and this feature, together with the four-tiered undersides of the roof stones, suggests that the pagoda was built during the Goryeo dynasty.
