This stone bodhisattva statue stands inside Bongdeoksa Temple (formerly called Bongsosa Temple), on a hillside to the northeast of Santteum village in Seongbuk-dong. The head, disproportionately large for the body, wears a tall jewelled crown; there are holes on either side of the crown that appear to have once held hanging ornaments, and the ears bear long dangling earrings along with ornate decorations. A celestial scarf drapes down over the left shoulder; the right hand hangs straight down with the palm facing outward, while the left hand is raised to chest level as though holding something, though heavy erosion makes this unclear. Bracelets are worn on both wrists. This standing stone bodhisattva is of the indigenous type that became popular in the Chungcheong region from the Goryeo period onward. A pedestal carved with the feet of a standing bodhisattva statue was recently found at the Dolsaemgol temple site and moved to Bongsosa Temple, suggesting that, together with the stone pagoda now at Jinjam Elementary School, it originally stood at Dolsaemgol in Wonnae-dong, Yuseong-gu.
