Originally located at the site of a ruined temple in Jungang-dong, Wonju, it was moved to the site of Gangwon Provincial Office in May 1962, and then relocated again in 2000 for outdoor display at the Bongsan-dong Municipal Museum. The pagoda takes the form of a five-storey body set on a single-tier base. The base, made up of large stones throughout, has pillar-shaped carvings at each corner and at the centre of each side, and the body stones of each storey are likewise carved with pillar shapes at the corners. The rate at which it gradually narrows towards the top is well balanced, and its form is neat and well ordered. The roof stones are rather thin, with three-tiered eave supports on the underside, though unfortunately much of it is damaged. Judging by its style, the pagoda is presumed to have been erected during the Goryeo dynasty.
