Three-story Stone Pagoda of Cheonggoksa Temple, Jinju
진주 청곡사 삼층석탑 · 靑谷寺三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krStanding to the left of Daeungjeon Hall at Cheonggoksa Temple, this stone pagoda has a three-storey body set on a two-tiered base, topped with a finial; the stone surface is considerably worn. Part of the upper stone of the base has been damaged, and pillar shapes are carved on the body stones of both the base and the pagoda body. The roof stones have four-tiered supports on their undersides, and above the third-storey roof stone the surviving finial elements are a noban (a flat stone base for the finial), a bokbal (an ornament shaped like an overturned bowl), an anghwa (an ornament shaped like an upturned lotus flower) and a boju (an ornament shaped like a flower bud). Overall it closely follows the general style of Unified Silla stone pagodas, but stylistic changes evident in various parts suggest it was erected in the early Goryeo period.
