Sinchonhyangsa was a place where the village's public affairs were handled. It is said to have been moved and rebuilt on this site in 1805, the fifth year of King Sunjo of Joseon, and it appears to have changed considerably from its original form through several later repairs. In particular, during a recent repair the site was raised to guard against flooding, and as a result it has lost almost all of its original character. The front measures seven bays, larger in scale than an ordinary Jeju Island dwelling, and the daecheong, the open wooden-floored hall at its centre, is likewise spacious. In structure and style, however, it is otherwise almost identical to an ordinary house. Sinchonhyangsa is notable as a type of building not often found in Korea.
