Jewoldang Hall and Ogojae Hall
KOGL Type 4Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This detached hall was built by the civil official Song Gyu-ryeom (1630–1709) during the reign of King Sukjong of Joseon (r. 1674–1720), and takes its name, Jewoldang, from his pen name. It measures three bays across the front and two bays to the side, with a hipped-and-gabled roof on a five-purlin frame. In plan it comprises six bays in total: the right four bays form a wooden-floored hall, and the left two bays are an ondol room heated by an underfloor flue. A further bay extends behind the ondol room, its upper level serving as a loft and its lower level as a firebox. Beyond Jewoldang stands the U-shaped main women's quarters, and, named after the pen name of Jewoldang's son Song Sang-gi (1657–1723), the single-row men's quarters known as Ogojae; together the buildings form an overall square compound, open on one side. The men's quarters is five bays across the front and one bay deep, with a narrow veranda running along the left four bays: of these, the left two bays form a wooden-floored hall and the middle two bays are the men's sitting room. Between the women's quarters and Jewoldang, on the right, stands a shrine three bays across the front and one bay deep, facing west.
