Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis bridge is a three-span hongyeseokgyo, a stone arch bridge shaped like a rainbow, built in the Joseon period. It measures 16 m long, 2.4 m wide and 2.8 m high, and is built of granite. Dragon heads are carved at both ends of the keystone, the central wedge-shaped stone at the top of the bridge, and the spaces between the arches are filled with dressed stone and rubble. The kerbstones lining either side of the roadway have mostly been repaired in recent times. According to a stone stele recording the bridge's construction, the bridge, destroyed by a great flood in 1900, the fourth year of the Gwangmu era, was rebuilt by four monks who raised construction funds and worked together with local residents, at a cost of 4,130 nyang. The bridge is currently out of use; it once served as the "boundary bridge" linking Jeolla-do and Chungcheong-do provinces.
