Yi Maechang and Yi Oksan were children of Sin Saimdang, and both inherited their mother's talent, excelling in the arts. Maechang's Plum Blossom Painting is an ink painting on paper measuring 26.5 cm wide and 30 cm high; thick and thin branches intertwine so that the plum blossoms seem to display their full beauty under soft moonlight, the whole conveying a clean, refined atmosphere. Oksan's Chrysanthemum Painting is an ink painting on paper measuring 25 cm wide and 35 cm high; despite its simple composition of a single chrysanthemum stem rising up the picture plane, it leaves a plain yet lingering impression, as though one were looking at chrysanthemums in full bloom. The two works are a valuable resource for understanding and appreciating the art of the siblings Maechang and Oksan. Having been kept in the family of their descendant Yi Jang-hui, the paintings were divided into two in 1965 and are now held at Ojukheon House's memorial hall.
