Gurye Sado-ri Three-story Stone Pagoda
구례사도리삼층석탑 · 求禮沙圖里三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a stone pagoda with a three-storey body set on a single-tier foundation. The foundation, built up in three tiers from a base stone, a middle stone and a top stone, is left completely undecorated. The pagoda body was likewise assembled without ornament, each storey's body stone and roof stone carved from a single block. The thick-looking roof stones have a heavy, rounded underside in place of separate bracket supports, and all four corners curve sharply upward. Resting on the third-storey roof stone is a square stone thought to be a noban, the base for the finial ornament. The pagoda's overall plainness, together with the thickness of its roof stones and the sharp upturn of their corners, suggests that it was erected during the Goryeo dynasty.
