This is the stupa stele of Master Bogam, standing at the site of Yeongwonsa Temple; scattered members that had lain nearby have been gathered here. Master Bogam (1251-1322) was a disciple of the Goryeo monk Ilyeon. He became a Grand Seon Master under King Chungnyeol and Royal Preceptor under King Chungsuk. Some years later he retired and lived at Yeongwonsa, then moved in his last years to Songnimsa Temple, where he died. He was posthumously honoured as State Preceptor; "Bogam" is his posthumous title, and the name of his stupa is "Myoeung". The stele's turtle-shaped base has lost the stone slab it once carried and now supports only the capstone. The turtle's head is rendered vigorously and full of life, its mouth holding a magic jewel. Its back is carved all over with a honeycomb pattern of hexagons, and around the square socket at the centre, where the stone slab was once fitted, lotus flowers are carved as decoration. The capstone, shaped like the Chinese character 凸, has a circular field at the centre of its front face in which the name of the stele is inscribed. According to a record preserved in the Miryangeupji (the local gazetteer of Miryang), the text of the inscription was composed by Yi Je-hyeon.
