A budo is a stupa that symbolises a monk's grave, enshrining his remains or sari (relics). This budo, standing in Tapgol village in Hyeonnae-ri, has no surrounding trace of a temple site, so it is unclear whether it stands in its original location or was moved from elsewhere. The bottom base stone is missing, and the platform above it is the lowest visible part. The single-tier platform has pillar-shaped carvings at each of its four corners, and its edge, which supports the stone above, is decorated with shallow lotus carvings. The two-storey body consists of a body stone and a roof stone, each carved from a single block; the body stone, like the platform, has pillar-shaped carvings at each corner. The roof stone has three tiers of supports on its underside, and its eave line is almost straight, curving up faintly at both ends. At the top, only two square stones that once supported the finial survive, with everything above them lost. Rather than the usual form of a budo, it has the distinctive appearance of an ordinary stone pagoda, and Goryeo-period features in its platform and roof stones suggest it is a work of that period.
