This set of woodblocks preserves the literary collection left by Park Gwang-ok (1526–1593), a civil official of the Joseon period during the reign of King Seonjo. Park Gwang-ok passed the jinsa examination (a licentiate-level civil service examination) in 1546, but built a house in Naju and studied Neo-Confucianism there together with his students. After passing the higher civil service examination in 1574, he held a number of official posts, and steles praising his good governance were later erected in his honour in Yeonggwang and Miryang. When the Japanese invasions broke out in the 25th year of King Seonjo (1592), he raised a righteous army together with Go Gyeong-myeong and Kim Cheon-il, and rendered great service in assisting General Gwon Yul. The collection records events before and during the Japanese invasions. Volume 1 contains 299 poems; volume 2 contains six pieces, including two miscellaneous writings and two prefaces; there are also appendices (a chronological biography in the first part and a conduct record in the second) and a separate supplement reproducing the author's own handwriting. In total the work comprises 137 pages, carved on both sides of the blocks. It is a valuable source for research into the history connecting the periods before and after the Japanese invasions of 1592–1598.
