This building was erected to house the commendation plaque bestowed by the state during the reign of King Yeongjo (r. 1724–1776), in honour of the exemplary filial devotion of Lady Song, mother of Kim Gyeong-yeo, styled Songaedang (1596–1653). According to the plaque itself, its inscription reads "崇禎再己酉今上五年六月日命旌", showing that the commendation was issued in 1729, the fifth year of King Yeongjo. The memorial is protected by a wall built of sagoe stone, square-cut stone blocks. The gate measures one kan across the front and one kan on the side. On a platform built of sagoe stone and jangdaeseok, long rectangular foundation stones, low square plinth stones were set, topped with square foundation stones cut with an octagonal cross-section only at the top, on which short round columns were raised. It has a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof, its bracket system built without projecting arms in the two-tiered ikgong style. Above the tie-beams on the side and rear walls, one decorative bracket support was placed on each, giving the building a still more ornate appearance.
