A votive text discovered inside the body cavity of the Seated Wooden Bodhisattva held at Samgwangsa Temple records that it was made in 1671 (the twelfth year of King Hyeonjong's reign, the twenty-eighth year of the Chinese Shunzhi era) by the late-Joseon master sculptors (jogakjang) Eunghye and Gyechan, as an attendant bodhisattva flanking the Amitabha Triad. It is valued as important material for the study of seventeenth-century Buddhist images.
