This is a stone cave temple at Bomunsa Temple, which serves as a Nahanjeon Hall enshrining images of nahan (arhats, enlightened disciples of the Buddha). Using a natural cave, three rainbow-shaped gates were made at the entrance, and inside, gamsil (niches for housing Buddhist images) were prepared to enshrine Sakyamuni Buddha together with the Maitreya Bodhisattva, the Bodhisattva Jehwagalla, and images of arhats, among others. A legend concerning these stone Buddhas tells that, in the reign of Queen Seondeok of Silla, a fisherman caught a stone in his net while fishing and, enshrining it just as it had appeared to him in a dream, thereafter became very wealthy.
