This Buddha statue stands at the Seungansa Temple Site in Umyeong-ri, Sudong-myeon, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, beside a stream about 20 metres from the site's three-storey stone pagoda. The right arm and other parts are damaged, and the lower body is buried, but the upper body is in relatively good condition. The head is out of proportion with the body, giving a very awkward impression. The drapery, in band-like folds close to incised lines, has become formulaic, and the narrow shoulders and the flat, linear contours of the body lack vitality. These features clearly identify it as a seated stone Buddha of the Goryeo period, one that well illustrates the sculptural style seen in the large-bodied Buddha statues of that era.
