This is one of four stupas remaining at Angugam Hermitage, built throughout on an octagonal plan from the base to the roof stone. The base, made up of three sections, is carved with a thick lotus pattern on the upper and lower support stones, excluding the middle support stone. Above the base, before the main body stone of the pagoda is set in place, a flat, drum-shaped stone has been inserted, its bulging middle section encircled by a band carved with flower blossoms. The roof stone has two tiers of supports on its underside; the lower line of the eaves is horizontal, while the upper line forms a gentle curve. Unlike the other stupas standing alongside it, most of which are works of the Joseon dynasty, this is the only one presumed to date from the Goryeo dynasty. It shows the somewhat heavy-handed style of that period, yet retains a relatively stable, neat and unpretentious appearance.
