This stone lantern and stele stand before the tomb of the Joseon-dynasty civil official Yun Hyo-son (1431–1503). The stone lantern consists of a firebox stone (hwasaseok, the perforated stone chamber that holds the burning light) set on a pedestal and topped with a roof stone, the whole forming a square shape. Small windows are pierced in each of the four faces of the firebox stone to let the light shine through, and above the roof stone, which seems to imitate the roof of an old house, sits an elaborately carved finial. The stele is set on a notably tall base, on which a tortoise-shaped pedestal is placed; the stele body is erected on top of this, and a capstone completes it. The tall base beneath the stone tortoise is an unusual feature, and the capstone, carved with lotus leaves in place of the usual dragons, is likewise distinctive. On the upper front of the stele is carved the inscription 夫婦合葬之墓 ("the joint burial tomb of husband and wife"). Both the lantern and the stele were erected in 1519, the fourteenth year of King Jungjong of Joseon.
