Bunawollu Pavilion
부나원루 · 浮羅院樓

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis two-storey pavilion belonged to Buna-won, a government-run inn under the jurisdiction of Yean-hyeon within the yeogwon system, the network of relay stations and inns that operated from the mid-Goryeo to the late Joseon period. According to the Yeonggaji, a local gazetteer of Andong, there were more than thirty such inns in the Andong region, but this is the only pavilion from that period still surviving. The original buildings of the inn itself have disappeared, leaving only the pavilion, which was moved to its present site in 1976 because of the construction of Andong Dam. It measures three kan across the front and two kan along the side, and has a paljak roof, a hipped-and-gabled roof whose sides form the shape of the character for "eight" (八). Its name plaque was written by the celebrated calligrapher Han Seok-bong.
