This is a Goryeo-period three-story stone pagoda standing beside a stone Buddha at the site of Yongunsa Temple. A roof tile inscribed with the name 'Yongunsa' was found near the pagoda, which is how the temple's name came to be known. The pagoda consists of a two-tier base supporting a three-story body topped with a finial. On the topmost stone of the base is placed a thick, lotus-decorated support stone that bears the first-story body stone of the pagoda, a distinctive decorative technique popular in the Goryeo period. Each corner of the body stones is carved with a pillar shape. The roof stones have four-tiered supports on their undersides; the slope of the rain-drip surface is gentle, and the otherwise horizontal eaves curve slightly upward at the four corners. At the top, above the noban (a flat base for the finial), are stacked in sequence the bokbal (an inverted-bowl-shaped ornament), the anghwa (an upward-blooming lotus-shaped ornament) and the boryun (a wheel-shaped ornament), together forming the finial. The topmost stone of the base has suffered some damage, but the pagoda otherwise retains its complete form. While inheriting the style of Unified Silla stone pagodas, it clearly shows features characteristic of Goryeo stone pagodas, such as the beautifully lotus-decorated support stone atop the base and the reduction of the roof-stone undersupports to four tiers.
