Provincial Tangible Heritage

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pavilion was built in 1925 to commemorate the Venerable Uisang, who founded Naksansa Temple in 676, the 16th year of King Munmu of Silla. This site is said to have been called Uisangdae since ancient times, as it was where Uisang stayed and practised meditation while building Naksansa Temple. Modest in size and hexagonal in plan, Uisang Pavilion stands on a coastal hill along the path from Naksansa Temple to the Gwaneumgul Cave at Hongnyeonam Hermitage, serving as a fine viewing point. One distinctive feature is that its railings are set at a slant.
