Hanguksaneop Bank Daegu Branch
한국산업은행대구지점 · 韓國産業銀行大邱支店

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krBuilt in 1932 as the Daegu branch of the Joseon Siksan Bank (Industrial Bank of Joseon), the building was used from 1954 as the Hanguksaneop Bank Daegu Branch. It is a two-storey reinforced-concrete building, arranged facing south onto Seomun-ro, the road to its south. It is symmetrical about the entrances on its south and west sides, and its exterior pursues variety of composition by treating the upper and lower portions in different materials. The lower wall is built of dressed granite blocks, while the upper wall is finished with white tiles. The walls between the windows on the south and west sides facing the road are projected outward like pilasters, and the building's corners and the capitals of each pilaster are decorated with mouldings. Above the pilasters are attached square relief panels carved in low relief with a leaf motif. Judging from the overall simplicity of the front facade's decoration and the emphasis on horizontal lines in the treatment of the roof slab, the building retains well the original form of the Renaissance style, and although the finishing materials of the interior partition walls have been altered somewhat, the form of the building as a whole preserves its appearance from the time of construction. Daegu Metropolitan City received the building as a donation from Daegu Urban Corporation in 2008, and since 2011 it has operated as the Daegu Modern History Museum.
