Naedong Seonggonghoe Cathedral, Incheon
인천 내동 성공회 성당 · 仁川 內洞 聖公會 聖堂
Provincial Tangible HeritageContemporary · 1956

Naedong Seonggonghoe Cathedral in Incheon was originally built in 1890 by Father Corfe (Korean name Go Yo-han), but was destroyed during the Korean War; the present building is a reconstruction completed in 1956. In the reconstruction, H-section steel beams were used for the foundation in place of reinforcing bars. Apart from the timber roof truss, the exterior walls and main structural members are solidly built of granite in a medieval stone style, combined with a traditional Korean timber-frame eaves treatment, and the finishing of the windows, doors and wall surfaces is outstanding.
