This church was built in 1906 by the British bishop Mark N. Trollope, and is an example of early Western Christian church architecture in Korea. The building consists of a gate tower three bays wide and one bay deep, with the central bay forming a two-storey bell tower, and a main hall nine bays wide and three bays deep. It is a timber-framed, hall-type building in an East-West eclectic style that used traditional Korean building techniques to establish a method of church construction and spatial composition suited to Christian worship. The roof is a hipped-and-gabled paljak roof, and at both ends of the ridge are stone crosses shaped like lotus flowers, with graceful curved lines.
