This is a government office building where the magistrate and officials governing the county carried out their administrative duties. It is thought to have been built in the 41st year of King Yeongjo of Joseon (1765). Within the grounds of the present-day Goheung County Office survive Amun, the main gate of the office compound, and Jonsimdang, its main hall. Jonsimdang, the main hall, measures five bays across the front and three bays along the side, and has a hip-and-gable roof whose sides form the shape of the character 八 (eight). Amun, the main gate, takes the form of a three-bay, three-doorway gate; the roof over the central bay is higher than those over the two flanking bays, and each of the three bays is fitted with a pair of plank doors.
