This is the tomb and sindobi (spirit-path stele: a stele erected beside a road near a tomb in the Joseon period to commemorate the lifetime achievements of a king or high official) of Lady Changbin of the An clan (1499–1547), a royal concubine of King Jungjong of Joseon and grandmother of King Seonjo. Lady Changbin entered the palace as a court lady at the age of nine, in the 2nd year of King Jungjong (1507); she was noted for her neat appearance and dignified conduct. At the age of twenty she won King Jungjong's favour, and bore him Prince Yeongyang, Deokheung Daewongun, and Princess Jeongsin. Her tomb was originally located at Jangheung in Yangju, but was moved the following year to its present site within the Seoul National Cemetery in Dongjak-dong. To the left of the tomb stands a sindobi erected in the 9th year of King Sukjong (1683); the epitaph was composed by Sin Jeong and the calligraphy written by Yi Jeong-yeong.
