Daeam Hermitage Collected Works Printing Woodblocks
대암선생문집책판 · 大庵先生 文集 冊版

The Daeam Hermitage Collected Works Printing Woodblocks are the woodblocks for the Daeam Hermitage Collected Works (Daeamjip), the collected writings of Park Seong, pen name Daeam (1549-1606), a civil official of the mid-Joseon period. After Park Seong's death his writings were gathered together; Yi Won-jeong wrote the preface in 1679, the fifth year of King Sukjong, and the collection was edited and published by Park Seong's great-grandson, Sehui. It comprises six volumes bound in four books: Volume 1 (table of contents and poetry), Volume 2 (memorial essays and miscellaneous writings), Volume 3 (letters and epitaphs), Volume 4 (memorials to the throne), Volume 5 (accounts of conduct, elegies and memorial essays), and Volume 6 (memorial essays and gravestone inscriptions). Carved at the end of the 17th century, these woodblocks survive with none missing and in their original form. Since Park Seong is known to have served alongside Kim Seong-il and Yi Won-ik during the Japanese invasions of 1592-98, the woodblocks are regarded as important material for studying the thought of the era's noted scholars and the political and social conditions of the mid-Joseon period.
