Tapjeong-ri Stone Pagoda is a Goryeo-period stone pagoda located at the northern end of Tapjeong Reservoir. Tradition holds either that it belonged to a temple called Eorinsa, where King Taejo of Goryeo stationed his troops while campaigning south against Gyeonhwon, or that it was the budo (stupa) of the monk Daemyeong during the Later Baekje period. The original pagoda is known to have been moved about 50 m north of its original position during the construction of the reservoir in the Japanese colonial period. The pagoda's overall structure is that of a budotap, a memorial stupa built to enshrine sari (relics) or remains, made up of a base and a body, but only the first storey survives today, making its original form difficult to determine precisely. The base consists of a lower stone, a shaft stone and a middle stone; the body has pillars carved at each corner of the stone block, and the roof stone is formed with three tiers of supports. It is particularly notable that the form of the base follows the style of Goryeo-period stone lanterns, making this an atypically shaped stone pagoda unlike typical examples.
