Gwisinsa Temple Stone Pagoda
귀신사석탑 · 歸信寺石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krGwisinsa Temple was founded in 676, the sixteenth year of King Munmu of Unified Silla, by the Great Master Uisang, and this three-storey stone pagoda stands within its grounds. Several stone slabs were fitted together above the base stone to form a platform, on top of which the three-storey pagoda body was raised. The corner edges of the body stones are carved with clearly defined pillar shapes. The roof stones are thin and broad, with eaves that run almost parallel before lifting slightly at the four corners. At the top, only a square base stone that once supported the finial ornament now remains. Judging from the graceful curves of the thin, broad roof stones and the technique of assembling the pagoda from several fitted stones, it is presumed to be a Goryeo-period pagoda that carried on the style of Baekje stone pagodas.
