This portrait depicts Nongam Yi Hyeon-bo (1467-1555), a civil official and sijo poet of the mid-Joseon period; it measures 105 cm wide and 126 cm high, and shows him seated at a desk. A record of the painting survives in the Yeongjeong Gaemo Ilgi, a journal recording the re-copying of portraits. According to this record, in 1827, the twenty-seventh year of King Sunjo, his descendants, fearing that his original portrait (now designated a treasure) would deteriorate, had it copied afresh; on the recommendation of Chusa Kim Jeong-hui, the painter Sodang Yi Jae-gwan executed the new portrait at Bungang Seowon. Among the associated relics is the Geumseodae, the belt worn with official court dress that Nongam used while he held office, 3.5 cm in width.
