These artefacts consist of four kinds of item, six pieces in total: a royal patent (gyoji) granted when the state bestowed a posthumous title on Kim Bu-pil (1577-1644), of the Gwangsan Kim clan and known by his pen name Hujodang, together with the Toegye yumuk (calligraphy of Yi Hwang), the Hyangbyeong ilgi (a diary of the local militia) and the Jeonga bocheop (a family treasured album). Kim Bu-pil was a disciple of Yi Hwang, whose pen name was Toegye, and was a man of outstanding scholarship. After his death he was posthumously appointed Dochonggwan, Commander-in-Chief of the Owidochongbu (Headquarters of the Five Military Commands), in 1802, the second year of King Sunjo, and was given the posthumous title Munsun. Several hundred other artefacts of the Gwangsan Kim clan, including literary collections and books, are also preserved and managed at Sungwongak Hall.
