This Buddha is carved in relief on granite, rectangular in shape and roughly 4 metres tall. Above the shaved head, the topknot-shaped hair bun is not clearly distinguished, and the square face sits close against the body. The hands are shown with the left hand raised to the stomach and the right hand hanging down at length, both rendered too small in proportion to the body. The drapery is simplified, with a concave-shaped fold in front of the chest and four strands of cloth falling over the left arm. Cracks run across the face and the lower body of this Buddha, which is executed in a simple yet approachable manner typical of the localised regional style of Buddhist sculpture in the Joseon period.
