Ohoegong Head House
오회공종택 · 五懷公宗宅

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis house was where Hosin, the third son of Jeong Su-beon — who served as a righteous army volunteer during the Japanese invasions of 1592-98 and won great merit in the battles of Yeongcheon and Gyeongju — lived after his marriage. It was built around 1620, the twelfth year of King Gwanghaegun of Joseon, and a shrine was erected in 1655, the sixth year of King Hyojong. In 1977 it was relocated to its present site owing to the construction of Yeongcheon Dam. The house has a front of five bays and a side of one bay, with a hipped-and-gabled (paljak) roof whose gable end forms the shape of the character 八 (eight). The shrine measures three bays across the front and one bay to the side, with a gabled (matbae) roof whose end takes the shape of the character 人 (person).
