Along the Goheungcheon Stream, which flows through the villages of Okha-ri and Seomun-ri in Goheung-eup, two bridges stand about 150 metres apart, both built as rainbow-arch stone bridges, or honggyo. For the upper bridge, dressed stones were laid at the very bottom, and twenty-seven rectangular stones were stacked above them in the shape of a rainbow; to either side, dressed stones were mixed with rough field stones and piled up, and rectangular stones were again laid on top to bear the weight of traffic. On the front of the arch a dragon's head is carved, and on the reverse a dragon's tail. The lower bridge stands on the Okha-ri side and is larger in scale than the upper one. The method and form of construction are similar, but here the dragon's head hangs from the ceiling of the bridge's underside. An inscription on this bridge records the date of construction, showing that it was built in 1871, the eighth year of Emperor Gojong. Both bridges date from the late Joseon period and are large and imposing in scale. At present the crowns of both bridges stand considerably higher than the surrounding ground, which appears to be because the terrain changed in later periods.
