Three-story Stone Pagoda in Dajeong-ri, Namhae
남해 다정리 삼층석탑 · 多丁里三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis stone pagoda is said to have stood at Dacheonsa Temple, which tradition holds was founded by the great monk Wonhyo. The temple's own history is otherwise unknown, but it is said that when Dacheonsa was absorbed into Yongmunsa Temple, only this pagoda remained on the original temple site. Today only two body stones and two roof stones survive, giving the pagoda the appearance of having two storeys, though it is presumed to have originally had three. Pillar-shaped carvings appear at each corner of the body stones, and the underside of the roof stones bears three-tiered supports. At the top, three bronze-ball-shaped ornaments (bojeongju) remain as a finial. Although incomplete, the thickness of the roof stones and their three-tiered supports suggest that the pagoda was erected during the Goryeo period.
