Sinseongyeong and Ryu In-ho Burial Ground
신선경과 류인호 묘역 · 慎先庚과 柳仁濠 墓域

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is the burial ground of the Geochang Sin clan, centred on the tomb of Sin Seon-gyeong, a civil official of the early Joseon period. Sin Seon-gyeong served as Jangnyeong (Investigating Censor) of the Office of the Inspector-General in 1456, the first year of King Sejo, and later held the office of Dongjijungchubusa (Deputy Commissioner of the Jungchubu, a central military affairs office). The Geochang Sin clan originates with Sin Su (愼修), who came from Kaifeng in Song-dynasty China as an envoy of the Song court to Gaegyeong, the capital of Goryeo, and naturalised there, becoming the founding ancestor of the Geochang Sin clan. Within the Geochang Sin clan burial ground also stands a burial site of the Munhwa Ryu clan, the tomb of Ryu In-ho (柳仁濠), who held the office of Third Counsellor of the Board of Works. Ryu In-ho was Sin Seon-gyeong's son-in-law, and this tomb is a joint burial of husband and wife. The tombs are located within Ogeum Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Among them, the tomb of Sin Seon-gyeong was built about 500 years ago and is a double mound shared with his wife, Lady Han, who held the title Jeongbuin. Between the two mounds stand a gravestone and an offering table; the upper part of the gravestone is decorated with a lotus motif, making it an important material for the study of gravestones.
