Naju Songje-ri Five-story Stone Pagoda
나주송제리오층석탑 · 羅州松堤里五層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a stone pagoda with a two-tiered base supporting a five-storey body. The base is plain, with no carved decoration. The body of the pagoda, which appears slender and tall and somewhat lacking in stability, is built with each storey's body stone and roof stone carved from a single block. The first-storey body stone is disproportionately large, and the second storey drops sharply in height. The underside of each roof stone has three-tiered eave supports from the first to the fourth storey and two tiers on the fifth; the upper surface has a steep slope, and the four corners curve sharply upward. This simple, neat pagoda, with its irregular eave-support tiers of between two and four and its sharply upturned corners, is presumed to be a work of the Goryeo period.
