Ugeumchon Duam Historic House was built when Duam set up his own household at the age of twenty; it comprises a 24-bay main house, a 6-bay Hamjipdang hall, and a 6-bay ancestral shrine. The main residential quarters were built in 1590, the twenty-third year of King Seonjo of Joseon, while the Hamjipdang and the shrine were added in later generations. Duam, Kim U-ik (1571–1639), passed the state civil service examination in 1612, the fourth year of King Gwanghaegun, and after serving as magistrate of Yeongwon and of Haemi, rose to a post in the Hanseongbu, the capital administration.
