Yanghogeosa Stele
양호거사비 · 楊鎬去思碑

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis stele stands on the hill behind the student hall of Myongji University, and honours the achievements of Yang Hao, a Ming Chinese general who came to support Joseon during the Japanese invasions of 1592–1598, the Imjin War. The stele's body rises from a square base carved with lotus flowers, and is topped with a capstone. The front of the capstone bears a carving of two dragons facing each other, seated on clouds. Four steles in all were erected to honour General Yang Hao, raised respectively in the 31st year of King Seonjo (1598), the 2nd year of King Gwanghaegun (1610), the 40th year of King Yeongjo (1764), and the 1st year of King Heonjong (1835). Since the one made in King Heonjong's reign was found at Daesin High School in Seoul, this stele is thought to be one of the three made between the reigns of King Seonjo and King Yeongjo. The exact date of this stele and the whereabouts of the remaining two are still under study and not yet known with certainty.
